A worker who fell from a building in Downtown Brooklyn on Thursday morning has died, according to a city official.

It happened around 8 a.m. outside an NYU tech building at Jay and Johnson Streets.

The man appears to have been cleaning windows when he fell from the scaffolding into an external basement area.

"I saw the guy hanging down. Like, he was cleaning the window, he was hanging," one witness recalled. "Like, his foot just went off-balance and he flipped frontward and his head hit the floor. And then that's when everybody was calling."

"He was speaking to somebody, one of his co-workers from the window, so I don't know if he was paying attention," the witness continued. "He had no harness on, and he just fell down on his head."

The worker's identity has not been released.
