A crane operated by the workers hit a high-voltage power line.

Two workers were critically injured Wednesday on a residential construction site in Forsyth County, fire spokesman Jason Shivers said.

About 9 a.m., a crane that the workers were operating came in contact with a high-voltage power line, Shivers said. Both workers were flown to Grady Memorial Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The incident happened on Moss Brook Circle in the Moss Creek Estates subdivision,
off Drew Campground Road, Shivers said. The crane was lifting materials into the upper floor of a home under construction when the incident happened. Most of the homes in the subdivision are being built.

There were “numerous” reports of power outages, which included traffic lights, in the area because of the incident, Shivers said.

Investigators from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration are on site to investigate, Shivers said.
