Semi truck hauling 172 pigs slams into barrier wall. 4 pigs escaped, several dead, all others captured on I-15 at the border between AZ and UT

ST. GEORGE, Utah (KUTV) - A "major collision" on southbound Interstate 15, in the gorge south of St. George, Utah blocked lanes of the highway in both directions and ejected dozens of animals onto the road Monday.

A commercial vehicle, hauling pigs, rolled in the collision, ejecting "dozens of animals" according to Sgt. John Bottoms of the Arizona Highway Patrol. The interstate leaves Utah, heads into Arizona and continues into Nevada through a gorge that is considered scenic, but handles large volumes of traffic with no room to divert.

The road was reopened with a partial lane closure as crews worked to clean up the crash.

It's unclear how many animals were hurt in the incident. The collision was reported four miles south of the Cedar Pocket rest area.
