KARTHAUS, PA — Clearfield County Coroner Mike Morris reported that a Karthaus woman was killed Thursday evening while mowing her lawn.

Sandra L. Maney was cutting grass on the residential property owned by her and her husband Dale. While cutting the grass on a steep hill on the property, Maney lost control of the mower after striking a landscape retaining wall which caused the mower to become airborne and came to rest on her upper body.

Maney was pronounced dead at the scene by Deputy Coroner Mike Polachek. The cause of death for Maney was determined to be positional asphyxiation. Time of death has been established to be about 5 p.m.

The coroner’s office was assisted by Karthaus and Pine Glen fire departments and Moshannon Valley EMS.

The Strange & Weaver Funeral Home of Morrisdale is serving the family.
