William Nelson, 32, charged with insurance fraud after burning his own truck and filing an insurance claim in Calloway County, KY

CALLOWAY COUNTY, Ky. -

A Murray man has been arrested and charged with insurance fraud.

On August 21, 32-year-old William Nelson reported to the Calloway County Sheriff's Office that his Ford F150 truck was taken from his home without his knowledge.

The pickup was found on fire on Collins Road in the Kirksey area.

An investigation began and it was determined through a series of events that the fire was suspicious.

According to the investigation, the truck was allegedly taken from the home while the family was inside the apartment.

Deputies say the truck was set on fire, and that within 20 hours of the fire, an insurance claim was filed by Nelson.

Nelson was arrested on a warrant for burning personal property to defraud insurer.

The investigation is still ongoing.

CALLOWAY COUNTY, Ky. -

The Calloway County Sheriff's Office is investigating a pickup that was stolen and then set of fire.

Deputies say they got a call around 10:32 p.m.on Sunday for a pickup fire on Collins Road in the Kirksey area.

The passenger compartment was fully engulfed in flames when they arrived.

The owner of the pickup, 32-year-old William Nelson of Murray, said the pickup was at his home on 277 Cambridge Drive in Murray when he left around 9:30 p.m.

Nelson said there was a number of items in the pickup that he used for his business.

An investigation is ongoing.
