PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A woman is under arrest after a traffic stop turned violent in Philadelphia's Kensington section.

It all started at 9:25 p.m. Thursday at E and Clearfield streets.

Police say officers spotted a stolen Jeep and attempted to stop it when the incident escalated.

The suspect attempted to ram a police vehicle and then run down an officer, which prompted cops on the scene to open fire.

She then fled the scene, leading officers on a chase into the city's Port Richmond section that culminated when she crashed into a police van at Richmond and Ann streets.
A witness we spoke with here heard the whole thing go down.

"Oh yeah very fast, high speed. I saw like 16 cop cars flying down Richmond street. It was a little bit scary. And then I went into my house because I was afraid," said Chrissie Jannotta, witness.

The suspect was taken into police custody, and then taken to Temple University Hospital. She is expected to be OK.

No officers were hurt.
