EMS PERSONNEL ARE AT HIGH RISK OF INJURY OR DEATH:Medic hit by truck, critically injured in Greenwood Co., SC

GREENWOOD, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A Greenwood County EMS employee was critically injured after being struck by a vehicle Tuesday.

The 60-year-old medic supervisor was working a wreck on Highway 72 and Wood Long Road when the truck drove by and struck him at about 8:10 a.m., troopers said.

The worker was walking back to his vehicle from a scene when he was struck. He was transported to Greenville Memorial Hospital by EMS for his injuries.

The driver was heading east on SC-72 when he struck the victim in a 2014 Ford pickup truck. The driver was uninjured.

EMS is asking for prayers and thoughts for his family. They ask people to pay attention when behind the wheel.
