WEST FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) – A vehicle struck an 18-wheeler, with one vehicle on fire and a person trapped inside, on I-95 just before the US-52 interchange at 11:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 25, according to Captain Anthony Fox with West Florence Fire Department.

Crews from West Florence and Windy Hill Fire Departments responded to the scene and found a passenger vehicle that ran into the rear of an 18-wheeler trailer and one person was still inside the vehicle.

Firefighters removed the person just before the car caught on fire, according to Captain Fox.

That person was transported by Florence County EMS to a local hospital for treatment.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire from both the vehicle and the 18-wheeler.

SCHP is investigating the cause of the collision.
