Driver arrested, victim critical in suspected DUI hit-and-run in North Philadelphia

NORTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A driver suspected of DUI is in custody after allegedly striking at least one person in North Philadelphia.

Police say he might have struck a second person prior to attempting to flee the scene.

It happened around 11:20 a.m. Thursday along Allegheny Avenue near 2nd Street.

The male driver continued along Allegheny to 4th Street where police stopped the man and took him into custody.

Police say the driver also struck several other vehicles along the way.

The victim was taken to Temple University Hospital in critical condition.
