JACKSON, MS FIREFIGHTER INJURED AT VACANT HOUSE FIRE

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – The Jackson Fire Department responded to a vacant house fire early Monday evening.

The fire was on the 500 block of Kirkley Drive.

JFD responded to the fire at 6:54 p.m. and reported the structure clear and under control by 7:09 p.m. according to Cleotha Sanders, a Division Fire Chief with the Jackson Fire Department Office of Fire Investigations.

The home did receive damage and is deemed unlivable at this time.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

One male firefighter was checked out by an AMR unit on scene in what appears to be a non-life threatening injury. He was transported to a local hospital.

No other injuries reported at this time.
