SAN JOSE, Calif. (KGO) -- A tour bus with Medina Tours caught on fire on northbound Interstate 880 near Gish Road in San Jose.

Injuries were initially reported, but it appears all 16 passengers were able to get off the bus safely and without injury.

The California Highway Patrol said the bus was headed to a casino when the driver noticed the fire in the back of the vehicle. He was able to safely pull over and get all the people off the bus.

The driver tried to use his fire extinguisher to put out the fire, but it wasn't enough. The cause of the fire is unknown.

Crews worked to clean up the crash so they can reopen roadways. Only one lane was open on northbound I-880 near Gish Road. The connector ramp to northbound Highway 101 and Highway 880 was also closed.

Medina Tours was able to call another bus to pick up the stranded passengers.
