EL PASO COUNTY, Texas (KFOX14) — One person died Monday afternoon following a crash involving two commercial trucks in far east El Paso County, according to the sheriff’s office.

The crash happened just before 12:00 p.m. in the westbound lanes of Interstate 10 near the Horizon Exit.

One of the vehicles appears to be a road work convoy, a vehicle with a large sign to direct traffic during construction, and a Jobe Materials vehicle.

"The preliminary investigation determined that the vehicles collided and they went off the shoulder and then came to rest on the shoulder," said EPCSO spokeswoman, Leslie Antunez.

Video from the scene taken by KFOX14 viewers shows one of the vehicles engulfed in flames.

I-10 west was completely shut down in the area starting at the Clint, Texas exit, and motorists were being directed to the frontage road. All lanes reopened by 6:20 p.m.

Special traffic investigators and the crime scene unit is investigating.
