A fire started by a solar panel at a Bayonne warehouse sent one firefighter to hospital, a Bayonne battalion chief said.

The Bayonne Fire Department responded to reports of a solar panel fire on the roof of E&F Warehouse on Pulaski Avenue around 2 p.m. today, battalion chief Frank Pawlowski said.

According to Pawloski, the two-alarm fire extended to the warehouse's roof, and then dropped down to inside the building.

Ten people have been displaced by a fire that destroyed one Avenue E home and caused at least some damage to another home, according to city officials.

The firefighters were on the scene until 5:30 p.m. and extinguished the blaze.

"We were able to contain it to one 50-by-50 foot area, and we were able to control it and eventually extinguish it," Pawlowski said.

One firefighter was transported to Bayonne Medical Center for a minor injury he said. No other injuries were reported.
