A motorcyclist was killed in head-on collision in Fayetteville, NC after a Jeep Cherokee crossed into oncoming traffic

FAYETTEVILLE, NC (WTVD) -- A motorcyclist was killed in an early morning head-on collision in Fayetteville Thursday.

It happened just after 1:10 a.m. on Cliffdale Road near the Overton Place intersection.

Authorities said a Jeep Cherokee was driving along Cliffdale Road towards Morganton Road, when it crossed into oncoming traffic of the two-lane road and struck the motorcyclist going towards McPherson Church Road.

The motorcyclist, identified as 23-year-old Kenneth Newsom of Fayetteville, died in the crash.

The driver of the Jeep, 28-year-old Bridgette Senkbeil of Sanford, and a passenger, 30-year-old Christopher Moonen of Fayetteville, were not injured.

Senkbeil has been charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle and a left of center lane violation.

The accident closed Cliffdale Road between McPherson Church Road and Westwood Drive for several hours.
