SARTELL – A teenager from Sauk Rapids is hospitalized after being electrocuted and falling from a bridge. The Sartell Police Department says they were called to the old Sartell bridge over the Mississippi River on Sartell Street at about 9:20 p.m. last (Wednesday) night.

Dispatch had been giving CPR instructions to another teen, until officers arrived. After a short time, the victim regained a pulse and was breathing with difficulty, but not conscious. He was taken to St. Cloud Hospital, and then flown to Hennepin County Medical Center.

The victim has been identified as 16-year-old Daniel Fleigel of Sauk Rapids. He is listed in critical condition.

Five other juveniles who were on the bridge with him say he climbed to the top of the old bridge and was walking across when he grabbed an electrical wire and then fell about 30 feet.

Daniel’s grandfather, Jack Dlugosch, says his grandson is in a medically induced coma, surrounded by family, and that doctors think they’ll know much more about his condition Saturday.
