38 YEAR OLD FIREFIGHTER-CAPTAIN DIES IN THE LINE OF DUTY-HEART ATTACK DURING AN EMS RUN

June 28, 2016 
The Dakota City Fire Department is mourning the loss of one of their own.

Fire Captain Eric Speck suffered a heart attack after responding to a medical call on June 23rd and passed away this morning.

Eric leaves behind his wife Joanie who also works for the fire department and two children.

The Nebraska Serious Injury and Line of Duty Death Response Team is assisting the Dakota City Fire Department with funeral arrangements.

The LODD Team is on location assisting the Dakota City Fire Department with funeral arrangements. The visitation/viewing will be Thursday from 3-8 pm with family attending from 6-8 pm. The funeral will be on Friday at 10 am. Currently all will take place at the Dakota City Fire Station (Pending).
