Driver charged with DWI after fiery head-on crash in Wake County, NC

WAKE COUNTY, NC (WTVD) -- The North Carolina Highway Patrol has charged a man with driving drunk after an early morning fiery crash in northeastern Wake County.

Just after 1 a.m., emergency crews were called to the accident on Highway 96 (Zebulon Road) at US 401 in Wake Forest.

Two vehicles crashed head-on and one of the vehicles burst into flames.

Troopers said a 30-year-old Wilson man was headed south when he was hit by 23-year-old Enrique Zunugagracida who was driving north in an SUV.

Zunugagracida is charged with DWI and driving left of center.

Both men were taken to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
