HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Houston police say a 4-year old child riding a tricycle has died after allegedly being run over by a wrecker truck Wednesday night.

Investigators say the death happened in northeast Houston in the cul-du-sac on Kerry Glen Lane just before 9pm.

It's being reported that two boys, ages 4 and 5, were playing outside. The 5 year-old was on a bicycle and the 4 year-old was on the big wheel. Police say the wrecker driver was headed westbound on Kerry Glen Lane when the 4 year-old rolled out in front of him. The driver was unable to stop in time.

The 4 year-old was taken to Hermann Memorial Medical Center where he later died.

The wrecker driver is being evaluated by police and charges will be determined pending the outcome of the investigation.

It is unclear if the wrecker driver was speeding, if the road was poorly lit, or if any adults saw the accident.
