SCAPPOOSE, Ore. – Two people were hospitalized after two boats collided in the Scappoose Bay Marina Saturday morning.

One of the injured people was taken away by Life Flight, according to Scappoose Fire. The other was transported by ambulance.

At around 9 a.m., a larger guide outfitter boat collided head-on and went right over a smaller fishing boat, according to the Columbia County Sheriff's Office.

People on the larger boat helped get the two injured people out of the smaller boat, according to Sgt. Phillip Edwards of the Columbia County Sheriff's Office Marine Patrol.

"The two injured parties were recovered by the other boat," Edwards said. "Just after they recovered the bodies out of the boat, the boat capsized and it went hull up."

The sheriff's office is investigating.
