LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Several lanes on the westbound 101 Freeway near Tujunga Avenue were shut down Saturday morning after a fatal wrong-way car crash.

Two cars were involved in a head-on collision around 4 a.m., authorities said. One car was driving in the wrong direction and it was unclear if alcohol or drugs were involved.

One person was pronounced dead at the scene and at least one other person was taken to a nearby hospital.

Four lanes were shut down on the freeway just west of Tujunga Avenue for a few hours as crews cleaned up the scene. Traffic was diverted from the westbound 134 Freeway onto the northbound 170 Freeway.

No further information was immediately available.
