The major fire which engulfed SOCAR Platfrom 10 on December 4th and killed 8 people is now being tackled by a team of well blowout experts.

The fire had been fought by up to five vessels until recently and has now been replaced by two specialist firefighting vessels the Vikhr-5 and Vikhr-8.

The fire has been supressed enough for well blowout experts from Halliburton’s Boots and Coots company to board the platform and begin tackling the fire from onboard.

Azerbijians Ministry For Emergency Situations has released new footage of the fire onboard the platform

Eight people have been confirmed dead so far, and their bodies have been recovered. The latest body was found floating in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan’s ministry of emergency situations informed on Sunday.

According to available information, 22 workers from Gunashli, and three workers from the Oil Rocks Field remain unacounted for.

Azerbaijan’s government and the country’s oil and gas company Socar will give material aid to the families of the oil workers affected by the offshore accidents that occurred on Friday, December 4, 2015.

The Government has donated 15.000 AZN ($9613) to the families of. Separately, Socar has earmarked 5000 AZN ($3204) to give to the families of the victims.
