Fire broke out in a second-floor air conditioning unit at Knights Inn in Clearwater, Florida, 30 guests evacuated

About 30 guests were evacuated due to a second-floor fire at a Clearwater hotel early today, officials said.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire, which appears to have broken out in a second-floor air conditioning unit at Knights Inn, 20788 U.S. 19, according to Clearwater Public Safety.

A 30-year-old woman was taken to Mease Countryside Hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation, officials said. A woman, 25, declined treatment at the scene.

Traffic in the westbound lanes of Gulf to Bay Boulevard was redirected due to fire equipment, according to Clearwater Public Safety.
