UPDATE: 1 person killed, 2 injured in wrong-way ATV collision with SUV near Meadow Bridge, West Virginia

10:15 a.m. Aug. 3, 2015 UPDATE:

Troopers with the West Virginia State Police responded to a fatal accident between an SUV and an ATV on Sunday, Aug. 2, 2015. The accident happened at around 9:50 p.m. on Route 20 near Meadow Bridge.

According to Senior Trooper J.W. Gilkeson, Ralph Hamrick, 46, of Meadow Bridge was riding the 4-wheeler the wrong direction in the northbound lane and ran head on into the SUV. Hamrick was killed in the accident. 


The driver and passenger in the SUV were taken to Greenbrier Valley Medical Center. 

Investigators said their injuries appeared to be non-life threatening.

The investigation is being handled by the State Police Detachment in Rainelle. Senior Trooper Gilkeson indicated that alcohol may have been a factor in the the crash.

ORIGINAL STORY: Fayette County dispatchers tell us that crews were called to the scene of an accident in the Meadow Bridge area on Sunday, August 2, 2015. The accident happened on Sewell Creek Road off of Route 20.

The accident involved a car and an ATV. Injuries were reported, but at this time we don't know how many or the extent of the injuries.
