Meanstreak II is Over: 1 man dead after boating accident in Marble Falls, Texas during the Lakefest racing event

MARBLE FALLS, Texas (KXAN) — 


One man has died following a boat accident Sunday during Lakefest in Marble Falls.

According to the Marble Falls Police Department Mike Fry, one of the contestants, died while racing in the event. The crash happened at 10:30 a.m. Sunday morning.

According to the Lucas Oil Drag Boat Racing Series Mike Fry was the leader in the “Top Alcohol Hydro” division racing a boat named Meanstreak II.

Marble Falls PD also tells KXAN there was a separate accident that happened during the race that resulted in a racer being seriously injured and taken to Scott and White Hospital in Marble Falls. That racer has now been released from the hospital.

He has not been identified at this time.

The event began on Friday, and is set to finish on Sunday. This is the event’s first death.

In July a Marble Falls Police Officer was sent to the hospital with serious injuries following a boating accident involving an alleged drunk driver.
