A 66-year-old race car driver was killed in a crash Saturday in York County.
According to the York County Coroner's Office, Carnie Fryfogle of Manchester, Maryland, was killed at the Susquehanna Speedway in Newberry Township when he lost control of his car toward the end of a race.

The car rolled several times before coming to a stop. Deputy Coroner Onalee Gilbert responded to the scene, and Fryfogle was pronounced dead soon after 11 p.m.

The cause of death was multiple blunt force trauma to the head, and the manner was ruled accidental. He had been wearing full racing gear.

According to Susquehanna Speedway officials, the one-car crash occurred during the final lap of the 20-lap All American Outlaw feature event. Fryfogle was running in the eighth place position out of 19 drivers when the accident occurred on the backstretch of the speedway.

A statement on the speedway's website says, "The thoughts and prayers from the entire SSP family of employees, friends, fans and drivers and crews are with the Fryfogle family during this difficult time."

The Newberry Township Police Department is investigating. There will be no autopsy.
