Zeigler, Illinois

The Zeigler Fire Department says a fire truck was involved in a rollover crash on Tuesday morning, Aug. 11 while responding to a fire. They say all six firefighters on board were taken to an area hospital.

According to the fire department, the truck captain was pinned until crews could arrive to remove her. She was flown via helicopter to a trauma center as a precaution.

They say all personnel involved have been treated and released.

The fire department posted on Facebook that they are "beyond thankful for all of your prayers and support. We are especially thankful for our brothers and sisters in public safety who came to our rescue."

They said, "The community support and outpouring from our public safety brothers and sisters across the state has been a blessing. Thank you all again."
The fire truck was the only vehicle involved.

According to the fire department, the truck was moving at a slow speed when the rollover happened. They say it appears that a section of the road gave way as the truck passed over an area with a culvert. This caused the rear of the truck to become unstable and it started to roll.

The Franklin County Sheriff's Office will continue to investigate and determine the factors involved and the cause of the crash.
