A woman was taken to a hospital Thursday afternoon after crashing into the back of a fire engine on Idaho 27 south of Burley.

The engine, from the North Rural Cassia County Fire District truck, was responding to a semi truck hauling straw that caught on fire, firefighters at the scene said.

The semi pulled to the side of the road about 725 South on Idaho 27. The fire engine arrived and as firefighters were putting out the fire, a woman in a Chevrolet Silvarado crashed into the back of the engine.

Firefighters said the driver failed to slow down and was driving through smoke.
Multiple fire departments are still working on the fire, including Albion, Declo, Oakley and Minidoka County.

A reporter at the scene said piles of straw were still burning on the side of the road about 4 p.m.
