2 girls struck by car in Yonkers after driver mixes up gas and brake pedals

2 girls struck by car in Yonkers after driver mixes up gas and brake pedals, police say
Two girls are being treated for injuries after police said a driver mixed up the gas and brake pedals, striking the girls in Yonkers Monday.

The incident happened in front of the U.S. Post Office on Main Street.

Yonkers police said the driver of the car was pulling into a parking space and was tapped from behind. That caused the driver to hit the gas instead of the break, sending the car up on the sidewalk. The car ran over a parking meter and hit two girls on the sidewalk.

The girls were taken to the hospital by ambulance. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
