2 children die after pickup truck rear-ends SUV on its way to church that then crashes into the Arthur State bank, catches fire in Greenville, SC

UPDATED 6:44 AM EDT Aug 31, 2015

GREENVILLE, S.C. —Greenville County Coroner Parks Evans released the names of two children who died Sunday after an SUV crashed into a Greenville bank.

Evans said Micah A. Young, 3, and Tyrin Savahya Young Jr., 5, died in the accident just before 9:15 a.m. Sunday.

The two-vehicle collision sent the SUV into the bank and sparked a blaze on Pleasantburg Drive.

Evans said the 2001 Ford Expedition was driven by the mother of the boys.

Jonathan Bragg of the Greenville Police Department said four people were inside the SUV. The mother and another passenger made it out alive.

A relative said the family was on the way to church.

It wasn't easy for family members to see debris scattered everywhere and a hole in the side of the building.

"I'm real emotional right now because family members, you know, hey, you don't get them every day," said James Brown, a relative of the victims.

Pleasantburg Drive was closed between Pine Knoll Drive and Wade Hampton Boulevard for more than six hours as crews worked at the scene.

A witness told WYFF's Corey Davis that a green pickup truck struck the SUV, and the collision sent the SUV crashing into the bank. The collision sparked flames, according to the witness and confirmed by the coroner's office.

Investigators reconstructed the accident scene Sunday afternoon. Bragg said it would likely be Monday before officials had a clear idea of what happened.

Bragg said no charges have been filed and the investigation continues.

Crews from the Wade Hampton Fire Department, the Greenville City Fire Department, the Parker Fire District, the South Carolina Highway Patrol, Greenville police and EMS responded to the accident.
