Zareena Investments Inc. doing business as Super Cleaners in San Antonio cited by OSHA...again.

The company failed to provide proof of correcting prior OSHA violations.

Employer name: Zareena Investments Inc. doing business as Super Cleaners

Location: San Antonio, Texas

Date citations issued: The Occupational Safety and Health Administration issued the citations on July 22. The inspection was opened after the company failed to provide documentation to show they had corrected violations cited on a July 17, 2014, safety and health inspection

Investigation findings: Repeat violations include failing to establish a hazard communication program; provide eyewash stations for workers who handle corrosive chemicals; provide workers with personal protective equipment; guard electrical panels and provide adequate insulation on hot steam pipes. 

Additionally, Zareena did not make sure workers were protected from recognized electrical hazards such as the improper use of extension cords and unapproved outlets. 

Proposed penalties: OSHA proposed $46,200 in fines.

Quote: "When hazards are identified they need to be corrected," said Alejandro Porter, OSHA's area director in San Antonio. "It is the employer's responsibility to find and fix the hazards that can injure or cost a worker his or her life." 

Information: Zareena Investments, which employs approximately 25 workers at the San Antonio location, has 15 business days from receipt of its citations to comply, request an informal conference with OSHA's area director in San Antonio, or contest the citations and penalties before the independent Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission.
