Wrong-way driver kills woman, causes multiple injuries in 4-car crash along I-10 in Arizona

 A wrong-way driver on Interstate 10 has reportedly killed a woman and caused multiple injuries to others.

The 4-car collision happened in the eastbound lanes of I-10 Friday evening near milepost 63, east of Quartzite.

The crash caused one fatality, one critical injury and seven minor to moderate injuries.The collision occurred within the eastbound traffic lanes of I-10 at milepost 63, east of Quartzite, Arizona.

DPS received report of a vehicle traveling wrong-way [westbound] within the eastbound I-10 traffic lanes between mileposts 65-63. The wrong-way vehicle collided head-one with another vehicle; two other vehicles were also involved in the collision.

DPS reports that the wrong-way driver is a woman and she sustained critical life-threatening injuries.

A woman within the vehicle involved in the initial head-on collision was deceased at the scene. An adult man in this vehicle was transported to West Valley Hospital with injuries. Two minors also traveling in this vehicle were transported to Phoenix Children's Hospital.

Four occupants traveling within the third vehicle were also transported to West Valley Hospital.

One occupant in the fourth vehicle was also transported to West Valley Hospital.

Alt route for I-10 eastbound closure at mp 63: Exit at mp 45, north on Vicksburg, east on US 60, southeast on Salome Rd to re-enter I-10.
