Woman critically injured in colllision involving tractor-trailer truck that lost control in Delaware


A woman is hospitalized in critical condition after a collision involving a tractor-trailer in New Castle, Del.
New information from Delaware State Police indicates a woman has survived a crash involving a tractor-trailer and a sedan in New Castle, Delaware.

State police released the following statement after 10:00 a.m. Tuesday:

Initial information from the scene of the crash, which occurred on westbound DE rt. 273 at Airport Road, indicated that the female operator of one of the two vehicles involved in the crash had died as a result of her injuries. However, it has been learned that through advanced lifesaving efforts provided to the victim by New Castle County paramedics, she has been admitted to the Christiana Hospital in extremely critical condition.

The crash happened at 6:50 a.m. Tuesday at Route 273 and Airport Road.

Initial reports from police indicated the tractor-trailer lost control, partially crushing a sedan and trapping the driver inside.

The Action Cam recorded video of emergency personnel on the scene working to free the driver.

There was no immediate word what led to the crash.
