Three injured in Portage, Michigan two boat collision

Three people were injured in a boating accident in Portage on Saturday morning.

Around 10 a.m., the Portage Department of Public Safety responded to a report of two boats colliding on Long Lake.

Multiple victims were in the water and being helped by a number of boaters when firefighters arrived. An additional boat came to shore and transported firefighters to the scene of the accident on the lake.

Three adults and three children were brought to a boat landing, where they were treated by additional Portage firefighters and paramedics from Life EMS and South County EMS.

Two adult males sustained serious injures and one child sustained unknown injuries. They were taken to area hospitals.

The accident is under investigation by the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Department.
