The deadly Texas roads: 4-vehicle hit-and-run crash kills female driver in Carrollton, Texas

CARROLLTON, TEXAS

Police in Carrollton are searching for an SUV that caused a deadly four-vehicle crash.

At about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday on northbound I-35, just before the exit for President George Bush Turnpike, a black SUV crossed multiple lanes to try and exit. The SUV hit a vehicle that was already in the far right lane, pinning it against a wall, police said.

A third vehicle wasn't able to stop and hit the pinned vehicle, causing it to flip.

The female driver inside died on the scene. Her name has not been released.

A fourth vehicle also became involved in the crash, but no other serious injuries were reported.

The driver of the black SUV which caused the first crash left the scene. Officers are searching for it.

I-35 was closed while police investigated, but all lanes have since reopened.

Texas leads the nation in traffic deaths.  The death rate is about 1.5 people killed per 100,000 residents.  There is a good chance you will either killed or injured if you drive for while in this messy state.  They have low unemployment, but their roads are a mess.
