MARBLE FALLS, Texas (KXAN) —

A Marble Falls police officer is in the hospital with serious injuries after being involved in a boat crash caused by an alleged drunk driver on the Fourth of July.

According to the Marble Falls Police Department, Captain Ted Young was on boat patrol during the Marble Falls Fireworks Display when his patrol boat was hit by a boat driven by 41-year-old James Fry of Marble Falls. Young was taken to an Austin-area hospital for treatment.

Texas Park and Wildlife arrested Fry and charged him with intoxicated assault causing serious bodily injury. Fry’s charges can be upgraded to a second-degree felony at trial since Captain Young was on duty at the time of the crash.
