NISKAYUNA, NY

A Schenectady man faces misdemeanor charges, including imprudent speed, after a two-car wreck Friday afternoon that sent both vehicles perilously close to a home on Albany Street, according to Niskayuna police.

John Becker, 42, also is charged with aggravated unlicensed operation and operating out of ignition interlock restriction as well as several motor vehicle and traffic violations in connection with the wreck.

It was not immediately clear why Becker had an interlock system on the 1992 Ford Ranger.

Police said Becker's pickup truck collided with a car driven by Paul Avery of Schenectady. Both vehicles ended up against a home at 3801 Albany St. near the intersection with Mohrhoff Avenue.

Avery had to be extricated from his vehicle by firefighters from the Stanford Heights Fire Department.
