Motorcyclist deaths or injuries are on the rise: Motorcyclist hit by car and killed on Grand Central Parkway in Queens

Police are investigating an accident Friday night that left a motorcyclist dead in Queens.

At about 11:45 p.m., police responded to a 911 call of a motor vehicle accident involving a motorcycle on the westbound Grand Central Parkway approaching 166th Street/

They found 32-year old Adelso Espinal of Freeport, unconscious and unresponsive, with trauma about the body, lying on the roadway.

He was pronounced dead at Jamaica Hospital.

Investigators determined that Espinal was traveling westbound on the Grand Central Parkway, in the left travel lane, when he struck a bump in the roadway and fell from his motorcycle, sliding for a distance before coming to a rest in the middle lane.

A 71-year old man driving a Honda CRV in the middle lane tried to swerve to avoid the victim, but was unable to.

The driver was uninjured. There are no arrests and the investigation is ongoing.
