RACINE, Wis. (WSAU) --

A man is hospitalized after crashing a one-passenger helicopter in Racine County Sunday.

The crash happened at about 8:25 a.m. after the 61-year-old male pilot was hovering about 15 feet above the ground and came down unexpectedly in a cornfield.

A witness says the man got out of the chopper and walked towards the rear of the craft, and was apparently struck in the head by the tail rotor.

The pilot was taken to Froedert Hospital in Milwaukee for treatment. His injuries are not expected to be life threatening.

The man's name has not been released. The aircraft has minor damage.
