A man has been pronounced dead in hospital after he was electrocuted at a commercial building in Richmond Hill on Thursday afternoon.

According to police, two workers were in a scissor lift at the address on Mural Street near Leslie Street and 16th Avenue when it somehow came into contact with a live wire at around 4:20 p.m.

One of the men was rushed to Mackenzie Health without vital signs but was pronounced dead a short time later, police say.

It is not known whether the other worker suffered any injuries.

The Ministry of Labour has been notified.
