Luscombe 8A small plane crashes in front of Mount Dora, Florida home

MOUNT DORA, Fla. — 

The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating after a small plane crashed in front of a home in Mount Dora.

Police said at about 8:30 a.m., a two-seater planer with a pilot and student took off from a small airport in Eustis on State Road 44.

The pilot reported an engine malfunction shortly after takeoff and attempted an emergency landing on Isola Bella Boulevard in the Loch Leven Community.

The plane struck two trees and came to a rest in the front yard of a home, police said.

Police said there was minimal damage to the homes, and no one was injured.
