I-94 freeway repaired after semi-truck crashes, dangling off overpass in Michigan

A truck driver was slowly and safely pulled out of his semi-truck Tuesday afternoon after a crash left his rig dangling from the overpass just past the Wayne Road exit.

The crash occurred on the eastbound lanes.

It temporarily shut down traffic in both directions as the driver from the semi-truck was lifted to safety.

He was not injured.

Although the Romulus Police Department said a press release on the accident would be made available, an officer in the department said Thursday that the Michigan State Police handled the crash and any additional information would come from that department.

Lt. Michael Shaw of the Michigan State Police said a report was not made on the crash since there were no injuries.

It remains unclear what caused the truck driver to crash into the guardrail.

Although the westbound lanes re-opened a short time after the crash, all but one lane of eastbound traffic opened following the rescue.

The right lane of eastbound I-94 remained closed well into the evening as work crews repaired the busted concrete and twisted metal railing.

Wayne Road just under the I-94 overpass also had to be shut down due to a fuel spill onto the roadway.
