Fire Crews Uncover Possible Marijuana Grow House in Baldwin Park; Hazmat Team Responds

Police were investigating the circumstances surrounding a fire at a suspected illegal marijuana grow house in Baldwin Park on Tuesday evening.

Fire crews responded around 5:15 p.m. to a fire at a home in the back of a property in the 14400 block of Estella Street.

After knocking down the flames, fire crews discovered three 55-gallon drums and about 100 smaller 5-gallon containers, according to Bernard Peters with the Los Angeles County Fire Department. It was not known what was in the containers.

A hazardous material response team was sent to the home and determined there was no risk to the public.

The residents were also suspected of illegally growing tens of thousands of dollars worth of marijuana.

One of the residents was taken into custody outside the home.
