Coweta County, Georgia

A 44-year-old woman lost her life in a fiery crash Wednesday night after she appeared to lose control of her vehicle and collided with a tree.

About 6:50 p.m., emergency units with the Coweta County Fire Department responded to Corinth Road where a vehicle reportedly crashed and caught on fire. When they arrived, they found the driver, Janet Lee Daniel from Newnan, was entrapped and had been fatally injured.

According to Tracey Watson with the Georgia State Patrol, the initial investigation shows Daniel was traveling eastbound on Corinth Road in her pickup truck when she crossed the center line and ran off the north shoulder of the road.

She then appeared to overcorrect, which caused her vehicle to rotate clockwise, drive off the south shoulder and collide with a tree with its driver’s side door.

The truck then became engulfed in flames.

The accident is still under investigation by the Georgia State Patrol.
