Eyes on the road, Slown down, save your life: 1 driver is dead after the semi truck he was driving rear-ended another semi in a fiery crash south of Emporia, Kansas

EMPORIA, Kan. (WIBW) 

All lanes of I-35 are now reopened following an early morning crash involving two tractor trailer rigs that killed one person south of Emporia.

A Wichita man is dead after the semi truck he was driving collided with another semi in a fiery crash south of Emporia Tuesday morning. 

The Kansas Turnpike Authority said around 2 a.m., 58-year-old Michael Daniely of Raytown, was driving his semi truck northbound on I-35 when he slowed down because of a pedestrian in the road. 

Another semi driven by 39-year-old Michael Lyden of Wichita crashed into the rear of Daniely's truck which burst into flames on the side of the highway killing Lyden in the crash. 

Daniely and the pedestrian were not injured in the crash. 

Both lanes of northbound I-35 near mile marker 116 were shut down till Tuesday morning, but one lane north and southbound were opened by mid-morning. 

The crash happened around 2 a.m. Tuesday approximately 11-miles south of Emporia in the Northbound lanes. 

KTA Officials said one of the semi was completely involved in flames when they arrived at the scene.
