Dump truck hauling gravel rolled over on Rawley Pike in Virginia. Driver charged with reckless driving

Emergency crews responded to a crash involving a dump truck near Hinton on Tuesday morning.

 

Rawley Pike Reopened After Dump Truck Crash

Virginia State Police have charged Darrell French, 58, of Mount Crawford, with reckless driving following Tuesday morning's crash.

Police say French, who was driving the dump truck, was traveling westbound when he came upon a car attempting to make a turn.

The dump truck swerved to avoid hitting the truck and overturned.
French was not injured.

The roadway reopened at 1:30 p.m.

Emergency crews are responding to a crash involving a dump truck near Hinton.

The both the eastbound and westbound lanes of Rawley Pike are closed as crews clean up the scene.

The Virginia Department of Transportation has set up a detour directing traffic onto Route 701, onto Route 726, onto Route 752, and back onto US-33.

Crews were dispatched to the crash shortly after 10 a.m. near the intersection of Bank Church Road.

Dispatchers say the truck hauling gravel rolled over.
