Covered bridge struck, compromised in Chester Co., PA; driver fled and is sought


Police are looking for the driver who struck a covered bridge in Tredyffrin Township, Chester County.
Police are looking for the driver who struck a covered bridge in Tredyffrin Township, Chester County.

Investigators believe the bridge was hit around 2:30 p.m. Monday on Yellow Springs Road west of Valley Forge Road.

Structural engineers were called to the scene.

PennDOT tells Action News that the bridge has been "compromised" and is closed for further investigation.

The view from Chopper 6 showed a wall split from the roof of the bridge, with broken pieces of wood on the ground.
