EGELSBACH, GERMANY

At the Egelsbach Airport morning crashed a plane today.  The co-pilot was killed. The pilot of the aircraft is critically injured.

This morning at 10.42 clock came it at the airfield in Egelsbach to a plane crash. The two-seater aircraft flew shortly after takeoff apparently too low, collided with a utility pole to the railway line and crashed - in January 2003, there were at the same place to another crash.

The plane then struck on the embankment and burned out. On board the small aircraft of the type "Diamond DA 20 Katana" the pilot and his co-pilot, a couple from Frankfurt.

The 65 year old woman died, the 64-year-old pilot was critically injured. Immediately afterwards drove a freight train as planned over.

Here, the train collided with a lying in the tracks burning part of the aircraft and ripped the top line over a length approximately 400 meters from.

The collision that part was thrown on the railway embankment, which then became on fire.  A commuter train was in time be stopped before the accident site, so that a greater disaster was prevented.

By the catenary damage the rail rests between Darmstadt and Frankfurt ( lines S3 and S4 ) , and probably for a long time : The lines are completely torn , a mast is bent.

Also the air traffic to Egelsbach is currently locked . Numerous task forces and two rescue helicopters were in use .

However, the woman's life could not be saved . She succumbed to her injuries . The Criminal Offenbach and the experts of the German Federal Bureau of Aircraft Accidents Investigation took over the investigation.

Today's plane crash is not the first deadly in the history of the airfield Egelsbach.  Also in March 2012 at the Egelsbach Airport there was a crash of an airplane that killed five people . More information will follow shortly.
