MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PA

A woman was fatally struck by a SEPTA train in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania Tuesday morning.

SEPTA said the woman died after she was hit by an inbound Lansdale/Doylestown Line train just before 6 a.m.

The woman, who was not immediately identified, was struck between the North Wales and Gwynedd Valley stations, the transit agency said.

The incident is under investigation and it wasn't immediately known why the woman was in the track area.

The incident prompted SEPTA to suspend service on the Regional Rail line between the Doylestown and Pennlyn stations for about two and a half hours while authorities responded to the scene.

Trains were resuming running again shortly after 9 a.m., but the the transit agency said riders should expect delays of up to 90 minutes while full service was being restored.
