A Cessna 195 Businessliner small plane crash lands near the Iuka Airport, Mississippi

IUKA, Miss. (WTVA) -- 

The Mississippi Highway Patrol says no one was seriously hurt when a small plane crashed Sunday after takeoff from the Iuka airport.

According to Master Sergeant Ray Hall, the pilot of the single-engine plane was trying to return to the airport when it went down on County Road 191 in Tishomingo County.

It happened around 3:30 p.m.

The pilot and a passenger were on board.

It's not clear who owns the aircraft.

During an attempted return to the point of departure, Iuka Airport (15M), Iuka, Mississippi, the aircraft force landed to to a rural road south of the airport, sustaining substantial damage. The two occupants onboard the aircraft were not injured.
