About 2,000 gallons of bleach spilled from a 4,000 gallon storage tank at an El Cajon pool supply company Monday.

Workers at Abcana Industries discovered, at about 5:30 a.m., the 4,000 gallon tank had been drained to half it's capacity, Heartland Fire and Rescue spokesman Sonny Saghera said.

The bleach leaked into a secondary containment that was also had a leak, allowing the chemical to flow into the storm drain and into the company's parking lot at 545 W. Bradly Ave., Saghera said.

San Diego County and city hazmat crews joined the Heartland fire and Rescue personnel at the scene around 7:20 a.m. to clean up the contained spill.

Motorists were advised to avoid the area to avoid traffic delays.
